DENIM DAY

2-18-10 1

First of all, I just realized that today is the 19th.  I've written the 18th on everything today.  Go,me.

I feel like I almost make myself wear jeans on Friday, since the only day of the week that I actually can.  I suppose I could on Mondays, I would just have to change before work.  I never realized how much I really do love jeans in the winter until my new job removed them as an option.

The good side to that is that I'm much more creative and wear a lot more skirts.  It's also made me much less reliant on the wardrobe staple.  The bad side is that some days, you just wanna wear jeans.

I can't wait until it's a little lot warmer and I can pair this sweater and necklace with a pair of long, tattered jean shorts.  It's 100% inspired by a picture of Taylor Swift in a summer issue of Glamour.  If I wasn't feeling so lazy, I'd show it to you, but I am, so I won't.

Luckily, no one is standing behind me here.  Looks like the rear view may be a little scandalous.
booty + low rise = hello, butt crack

Hahaha ...  that reminds me.  I once had a very dear friend tell me that I was lucky that my butt crack starts way low, swearing that hers practically starts in the middle of her back. Hahaha ...  What kind of people have these conversations?  And who the hell would ever repeat it on the internets?!

  3. You look so cute with your hair like that! I love the interpretation of Taylor Swift's look. I think I remember the one your citing.

  4. Look at you working it!
Love your necklace paired with that grey jumper :) Casual, but oh so chic.

Totally know what your friend means about her butt crack. My booty honestly starts so high it's hard to find jeans to fit in. Like those ones you commented on in my karaoke post? That red shirt is extra long for a reason... that reason is sitting down.

    Hehe!

  5. I love this look! Especially the necklace- it's gorgeous! I often do a similar thing with jeans- mixing casual pieces w/ dressy ones. Also love the sweater!

  6. I love the super casual jeans and the super luxe pearls. I thought that you where wearing a plain old gray sweatshirt until I saw the sleeves. This is sooooooo cute!

  7. Oh you look so chic. I love the necklace!

  8. I love jeans : ) But I also love dresses and skirts. So many fashion bloggers dislike jeans that it's hard to know how to style them sometimes.

  9. I am crying with jealousy right now :(. That Stella & Dot necklace has been on my wishlist FOREVER.

I love your sweater, its a mix of a sweatshirt and a dress sweater. So great and you look great in everything today.

  13. It's denim all round today! Love your take on it.

I'm a little disenchanted with my jeans at the moment so I think I'm gonna try the custom route after I saw yours following the Weardrobe Conference.

Can you remind me of their name again? I'm all pumped to order a pair in anticipation of Autumn.

    Thanks Hon'.

  23. Of the many fashion-blogs out there, yours is the only one with witty prose!

You have a comic outlook and entertaining command of language.

  24. I really, really, really love this. It's so nice and comfy-looking, but refined enough that it's not too casual. I want to try a look like this sometime.

  28. That butt crack conversation had me cracking up!

My old job only let us wear jeans on Fridays, but at my current job I can wear them anyday. I try to challenge myself to not wear them all the time though.

  29. Oh my gah, the pearls. I love them.

Personally, I'm glad you shared that conversation. Hilarious. I have seen way too much of some girls who shop in my store and wear low rise jeans. If only they had your "trait." Haha.

  30. Oh my goodness, I absolutely love the fact that you wore pearls with a sweatshirt! It's so crazy glam!

  31. I swear I have a high butt crack! I have had this conversation many times with my BFF. My crack is ALWAYS showin!

  32. Yeah, Rebekah promised me some free jewelry when I did my giveaway and never delivered :( Boo.
Anyways, love love love this outfit. The contrast between that gorgeous necklace and the casual sweater is fab!

  35. I love this look. That necklace really jazzes up the whole outfit!

Your hair looks gorgeous as well!

  36. Next to black, grey would definitely be my other favorite color to wear. There's just something about it... it can't be explained, but everyone looks great in it and the color can be applied to any garment. Adore that sweater! And I love the necklace you chose to go with it. So pretty!

  37. I love the pearls, and by the way, HILARIOUS! (butt crack) Take it from a woman over 40 with a small butt, well actually NO butt, the crack, she still shows in low risers !!! My 75 yr. old Mom loves to poke me and say, "LOOK, LOOK!" whenever she sees a shop girl in lowrisers. (She pokes her toe down mine, if she sees it,my crack) and have you ever seen one even though they Weren't even bending over!
That's some kind of art! Anyhoo, thanks for the laugh!

  38. I love love love the necklace and how it makes the outfit chic... well that and the sleeves with the ties.

When I was an RA in college, I had a resident who would brag about her butt crack being low and how that allowed her to wear jeans that the rest of us couldn't. I think that is true. I think that mine is actually higher than most people's... so i have to be super careful. Now I have contributed to your interwebs talk of cracks. :)

  39. So... I was creepy and found my Glamour issue with the Taylor picture, haha. I like this winter version with those flats. So, so chic!!

  41. ha ha ha! I have to side with your friend on this one. I too have a butt crack that seems to begin half way down my spine and a more than ample booty that follows it. But, until they make jeans for me (tall, curvy, not low rise, not mom jeans high rise) I just embrace the coin slot!

    ReplyDelete
  42. i just love you in that sweatshirt! and the huge necklace and rolled up jeans are absolutely perfect with it.
and boy do i know the butt crack problem with jeans--i am one of the unfortunates with a crack that seems to start halfway up my back (sigh). just in case you were wondering why most of what i wear is high-waisted, there you go.

  43. This sounds like a conversation that I would definitely have with one of my pals. The outfit is so cozy looking and the necklace dresses it right up. I'll be doing this very thing, thank you very much!
