CHILL OUT

6-14-10 1

I talk a lot about the crucial need for function in my wardrobe.  And yesterday, I walked the walk.  In this here little outfit, I went to Lowe's.  Bought an A/C.  And installed it.  By myself.  In a second story window.

Dear neighbor who lives behind me,
In case you happened to peer into my bedroom window yesterday afternoon, I apologize.  I realize that this skirt is completely inappropriate for climbing around on a window seat, installing an air conditioning unit.  Please forgive me.  Mmkay?  Thanks!
Kyla

P.S.  In case you did happen to peer into me bedroom window, shame on you.  Perv.

I've taken on the arduous task of finding more interesting blouses this season.  Not easy, people.  I can't believe how little selection there is for fashion forward, unique, sleeveless tops.  This one is part of my Goodwill Fairy Godmother haul from Saturday night.  Simply Vera for Kohl's - new with tags.  Score!

I really thought it was going to be challenging to style.  You've most likely noticed that I don't wear a lot of billowy tops.  I prefer my billowy on the bottom, I guess.  But once I slipped this skirt on, I was sold.  I even made it more work appropriate by trading the skirt for a pair of black walking shorts.  Double score!

  1. Hah! I flash my neighbors all the time and don't care. Shame on them for peeking.

This such an unbearably cool outfit, lady. Right down to those fab pointy flats.

  2. Love the outfit (worship the blue flats) and your hair is cute like that!

  3. Kyla! This outfit is adorable. While the blouse is indeed a bit billowy, the overall silhouette is great on you... dippin' in enough near the waist to show off your shape, while billowing out just enough from the skirt to make the combo really freaking work.

And I gotta say I am LOVING the short skirts with bare legs! I know you had said something about feeling more comfortable in short skirts with tights in the winter, but holy hotness woman, you don't need to save those puppies for tights season! Keep on rockin' 'em (and I'll keep on following suit!)!

  6. Kyla, long time reader, first time commenter! I love your blog! And I love this shirt - I own this gray/paintbrush version, as well as the solid black. I find it so very versatile and oftentimes I wear it backwards! The billowing fabric is amazing with a big, chunky necklace!

  10. Yes it is a bit too short of a skirt for that task (lol). I really like your hair today, very beach babe.

And, YOU GO GIRLFRIEND! Installing an air conditioner in a mini-skirt. Doing it for sisters everywhere.

  12. That blouse is something awesome and I loved how you paired it with the mini skirt. Totally love! And kudos for installing the window unit. It'll be a cold day in hell before I'm able to carry one of those things.

  19. My goodness, this is STUNNING. You look positively radiant, friend.

Also, I keep my q-tips in the kitchen (no good reason), and occasionally, fresh out of the shower, I'll traipse through the apartment to get a q-tip, quite possibly flashing the entire street in the process. I have no shame.

  20. Woo hoo you for installing the AC by yourself--in a skirt, no less!

The letter to your neighbor made me LOL. :-) You're too funny!

  23. Oh yes, I love this. Billowy tops gave me the heebie jeebies for a long time too. But man are they comfortable. You look awesome in this. Love the blue shoes. Who doesn't love a gal who can look fabulous and do some dirty work?
