HANA ELITE FLAT IRON REVIEW & GIVEAWAY

Before I start, please know that I will not review products I don't believe in.  Misikko offered me a great opportunity to try out one of their professional hair straighteners, and man, am I glad I did!  Read on to see what I thought and how you can get your own.

Before I even received my Hana Elite 1" Flat Iron, I was excited to see that Misikko is a PA-based company and family-owned.  Hooray for back-yard businesses!

hana 1

I have been wanting a profession straight iron for some time now.  My hair stylists swears that there are two hair tools you should always invest in: a professional hair dryer and a professional flat iron.  Misikko carries a wide range of both, including the famed Chi hair straightener and FHI flat iron.

hana 2

My flat iron came with so much more than I anticipated.  The packaging was so exciting to open and was full of little goodies!  I couldn't wait to use is for the first time!  I use a hair straightener every day if for no other reason than to straighten my bangs.  My hair's natural texture is neither here nor there, so 99% of the time, I have to either straighten it or curl it.  With my previous flat iron, the straightening process took quite some time.  I have pretty fine, barely (if at all) processed hair, so a little heat goes a long way.  My old flat iron had to be really hot to work effectively, and I had to take the time to straighten my hair in small sections.

The Hana Elite has temperature settings, so I can cut back on the damage, and because the plates are totally ceramic, it doesn't pull my hair.  The straightening process goes a lot faster, because the plates heat more evenly, which also means I can iron larger sections of hair at once.  I also like to use my flat iron to wave my hair, so I was happy to see the swivel cord on this (my old cord is so twisted up, it's a pain in the butt to untangle!).

  8. I've been using a crappy Conair straightener for awhile because I can't afford one of the more high-end ones.. it'd be great to have the Hana 1"! I like that it has actual temperature settings too, instead of just one superhot temperature since my hair is barely wavy.

  9. Oh count me in! My straightener recently died, and I've been trying to find a great replacement. x Fingers Crossed x !!!

  13. Ahh, a new straightener would be a dream come true. The handle on mine is broken, so I have to grab by the outside of the hot plates, and burn myself frequently. hahah. This is a really great giveaway idea! :]

  19. Yes, please! I've had long hair for ever, and recently cut it short into a bob. Cute, but must straighten daily! Would love a professional tool like this...

  20. I have perhaps similarly difficult hair...it's neither straight nor firmly wavy, thus I often end up with a bit of frizz going on. However, I'm trying to improve on my reliable ponytail, and a good straightening iron would be very helpful.

On a related note, how do you bring out the waviness of your hair? I've started playing with hair products but I don't have a good system yet.

    Also, adorable puppy!

  22. First of all, I love your blog. I think you're adorable. Also, I think its awesome that you're from Central PA, because I am, as well. I live in York County.

Second of all, I want this hair straightener! Mine just broke and I'm too broke to replace it. Crossing my fingers!

  23. I have a Paul Mitchell iron that I used for my weird, wavy, frizzy hair. This giveaway is right up my alley!

  24. This pushed me to comment--I've never commented before, but I love your blog! I was just pricing flat irons since mine is on its last legs, and free is my very favorite price!

I also thought I should let you know that I bought those Target sandals with the turquoise beady things today due entirely to your pictures. :-)

  25. I've been wanting a straightener for a very long time now but haven't been able to afford one (I'm a poor college student). This straightener looks great, and I heard ceramic plates are better for your hair. Thanks for this giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I would love one of these. My hair is very fine and in-between in texture, and non-heat styling just makes it look a mess. This looks like basically the perfect straightener.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Awesome!
I have naturally curly hair and only straighten it once in awhile. But I have a tough time with my current straightener, so this sounds pretty great!
It also has the same name as me (different spelling), how can I resist that?! :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh, and I subscribed to the newsletter :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. And I'm following Missiko on Twitter...

  30. As unlikely as it might seem, I actually use a flat iron quite often as my hair grows out, so I'm in!

    ReplyDelete
  31. What a great giveaway--thanks for the chance to enter! I could really use one of these hair straighteners...I've never owned one, and my hair definitely gets wavy/frizzy unless it's laboriously blown dry. Which almost never happens.

    ReplyDelete
  32. If this is truly as amazing as you're saying, I need this thing! I've gone through five straighteners in as many years and been satisfied with none. They're inexpensive, of course, and these are normally WAY out of my price range...so here's hoping!

And thanks for the opportunity to win! :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Eek, I've had my straightener since I was a junior in college. I'd LOVE to have a new one.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I've had the SAME straightener for five years, its time for a new one. If only I could afford it. Thanks for the give away, wish me luck, i'll need it!

  36. ahhh a new straightener would be ideal! i have a really crappy one right now because i always feel really guilty spending a lot of money on hair products. which isn't really smart, considering i have extremely long hair. perhaps this would change my mind! :P

  37. I use a flat iron every day, and the one I have is just awful! I could really use a new one! Having a professional-quality iron would make my life soooo much easier! :)

  70. I hear ya about having hair that is neither here nor there. My hair is straight on the top half on the sides. It curls at the bottom, on the sides. And then the back is wavy. And my whole head is frizzy. So I can't just let it be itself because itself has some issues to workout with itself before I can let it do that. lol
