DOWNTOWN GIRL

3-15-10 1

I just need to reiterate: How have I survived this long without a basic trench?

3-15-10 2

It's the perfect accessory to pull together a simple, run-around-town look.

3-15-10 3

Admittedly, I had cropped leggings on this morning, but decided that I was in desperate need of a longer pair - preferably with studs.  This is ultimately what prompted my Target excursion today.  And, of course, score!  But I did pay full price for them - what a loser ...

3-15-10 4

So, if you're gonna pay full price, you better wear 'em right away!  I completely fell in love with the zippers.  I love how it angles the cuff - slightly more flattering to my leg line.

Of course tonight I'll have to change into something a bit more work appropriate, but this was great for my morning of leisure.

RAMBLINGS OF A MONDAY AFTERNOON

I heart today:

1. Since I worked last Monday, I've been going for about 14 days straight.  So, today is officially "Kyla's Day O' Fun!"  There will surely be some work to do later, but so far I have: gone for a run, met one of my very best friends and her uber cute baby for breakfast, gone thrifting, and popped into Target.  All of which have been incredibly fruitful.

2.  Lately, I've been addicted to: stove-top oatmeal with pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg; omelets with spinach, mushrooms and cheese; and cottage cheese with pineapple.  Mmm ... mmm ...

3.  Another favorite snack these days is a coco-pop rice cake with a little Cool Whip Free on it.  John finds it incredible entertaining that I make sure to keep the surface in the Cool Whip container completely even.  I can't help it.  This habit is also a lead indicator of when I've been eating his ice cream - suddenly the container is completely evened out.

4.  I went to see She's Out of My League this weekend and it was hysterical.  My cousin is in it and she's amazing and I'm so proud of her hard, hard work!

5.  We did most of our taxes yesterday.  And it sucked.  This year, I have at least 3 W-2's, a couple 1099's and a boat load of write-offs.  I'm thankful for my mother in infinite ways, but this time of year, I'm especially thankful that she's an accountant.  I love you, Mom!

SO FITTING

3-12-10 1

Wearing the same dress as yesterday.  Again.  Rinse and repeat seems to be the theme this week.

3-12-10 2
3-12-10 3

I'm sometimes amazed at the spectrum of my style.  Most of my outfits this week were much sleeker and more buttoned up.  This is not.  This is about as country girl as it comes.

3-12-10 4

I got some snail mail today!  It's such a lost art and I can't believe how big I smile when I get a hand-written letter.  I've even tried to get a little better at it myself.  It's really helped that my brother is at Basics right now, so we've been writing each other.  And then today, I got a letter from my aunt.  I just love it!  And must take time this weekend to reciprocate.

3-12-10 5

Even better, though?  Packages in the mail!  I'm sending a bunch out today and am expecting some of my own very soon.  I'll keep you posted!

SHE & HIM

3-11-10 1

I ended up in the wrong closet again this morning.  I can't help it - I love his shirts!

3-11-10 2

Especially tied over a pretty floral.  This was a very last minute concoction this morning.  I seem to be losing steam as the week draws to an end.  I woke up to work out and instead found myself back in bed.  But then I felt so guilty for wasting such a beautiful day that I did something I rarely do - I ran in the middle of the afternoon, which means I had to shower and primp all over again.

3-11-10 3

I love this picture of Iggy licking his nose!

3-11-10 4

Does anybody know what happens if you accidentally take 2 multivitamins in one day.  I couldn't remember if I took my vitamin this afternoon, so (about 10 minutes later) I took another one.  I'm still alive, so I think I'm okay.

I've been having a lot of these moments lately.  John just informed me that I forgot to turn the stove-top burner off.  And last week, I made a sandwich and about an hour later, John found the mayo on top of the fridge.  Oh, dear ...

THREE FOR THURSDAY

In the spirit of remixing and re-wearing (without washing in my case), here's three looks I've gotten out of that 15¢ thrifted jumpsuit of mine.

LIKE TUESDAY ... BUT WEDNESDAY

3-10-10- 1

The only downfall to a truly perfect day like yesterday is that the next day doesn't stand a chance of living up.  Today just wasn't as sunny.  The skies weren't as blue.  And it just wasn't quite as warm.

3-10-10 2

So, what better way to salvage the day than to infuse a little of that certain something from yesterday?  Sure it's gross, but I have no shame.  Yes, I'm wearing the jumpsuit again today.

3-10-10 4
3-10-10 5

And I know this is like the third time this week I've worn my hair this way, but what can I say?  Beat it 'til it's dead, no?  I just feel so edgy with it, and truthfully, it so freakin' easy.  I haven't had to wash it since like ... Sunday? (I know, this post just keeps getting more and more gross - I swear, I wore clean underwear.)  And it gives my skin a break from all the hair nasties laying on it all the time.

3-10-10 6

This is another sweater that lived in the basement all winter until about a week ago.  I bought it way back when, and it's a tad too big.  But it's perfect for wrapping and belting.  And it has the most perfect gold shimmer.  I'm really digging the glamorous karate kid thing I have going on today.

Okay, I'm going to paint the fence now ...

TEN! TEN! TEN!

3-9-10 1

Today is a Perfect 10!  Why you ask?  Oh, no reason ...

3-9-10 2

... except that it was super sunshiney and 60° outside.  And I drove around all day from awesome job to awesome job with the sunroof open and the radio cranked up.

3-9-10 3

And I had the most fantastic (and fast!) run this morning in my new shoes (third pair in a week - thank goodness for a store with guaranteed athletic shoe fitting).

3-9-10 4

And my hair just did it's thing today and it was perfect!  Dirty ... but perfect!  And this outfit is the bees knees and I'm so comfortable!
