WRONG "M" MONTH

5-11-10 1

It pains every fiber in my being to have to wear tights in MAY!  Today felt like March.  It was pretty awful, and needless to say, had me in quite a mood.  That and the fact that I was a complete scatterbrain, running frantically from one end of town to the other.  Between the weather and the all the red lights, I was dropping some serious f-bombs during my short commutes.  Then, I had to laugh at my ridiculousness.  Oh, the drama...

So, yeah ... I had to wear tights.  I could have worn pants, but then I have to worry about the hems getting wet (I hate that!).  If I wore short pants or skinnies, then I'd have to worry about cold feet, since I don't like to wear socks with those pants.  So, yeah ... I had to wear tights.

Are you frightened by the amount of thought that led to the wearing of the tights, yet?  I kind of am.

Mother Nature may have stolen spring today, but I'd be damned if she was going to steal my spring style.  So, I made sure to keep the rest of the look light and airy.  Take that, weatherman!

  1. i have such road rage. and the horn in our car does not work. if someone were to pay attention, they would see me waving my arms frantically when the car ahead of me is still not moving ten seconds after the light has turned green. my anger is short lived, but i get pretty steamed.

  2. Weather be damned... you look mighty fine in this look combining both springy and wintery pieces!

  3. I think we might be style twins! I was just putting together a lot of outfits today, one was gray boyfriend blazer, airy white dress. I have also noticed we have a lot of the same clothes, but suspect that may be the M.O. of the small town mall :)

And I really want to take you up on that drink!

  4. Pretty pretty dress! I refuse to get my full drivers license because I know I will be a maniac driver who shouts all the time.

  5. If it makes you feel any better about the tights, you look wonderful! :-) I love the pairing of light & airy with the darker, heavier tights.

  8. I totally use tights instead of pants sometimes. It is so much easier. Nice look.

  9. That's a really cute dress =). And, although having to wear tights is a drag at this time of year, I think the contrast of the spring dress and the black tights is kind of cool!

  10. So far, I've refused to do tights now that it's May ... but I might cave. It's so flippin' cold!

For what it's worth, this tights-based outfit is among my faves of yours. SO great with those tough boots and the pretty eyelet.

  12. I found myself in tights yestesrday as well. It's the most frustrating of notions, having pranced around in short skirts and tanks with ease just a few days before. Way to stick it to the weatherMAN!

  14. It is upsetting me too that it has been so cold in MAY! But nonetheless, I love how "summery" that eyelet dress feels and how you still look airy and effortless :)

  15. I am having the same problem and it's driving me nuts! I want spring/summer style and there's CLEARLY a conspiracy against me! The conspirators are the weather, tights manufacturers, and...I don't know, other people! It seems there's also a conspiracy against you.

I'm impressed that you refused to let the weather jack your springy-ness. You look great, the dress is awesome, and there's something about the combo of the eyelet and the tough boots that I just love. All in all, for an outfit that was forced by conspiracy and meteorological cruelty, you look pretty fantastic.

  16. Aw, poor you and your tights. It's freezing here in Chicago, too, and I've been opting for pants just so I don't have to deal with the dreaded tights. I may have to give in soon, though.

On the up side, this a majorly fantastic tights outfit. I may actually like it with tights better than I would without; there's something great about the black and white contrast.

  18. I love the eyelet details on that dress. You kept things springy even when the weather wasn't cooperating.
