INSPIRATION AND EXECUTION

5-18-10 1

I saw this below Chloe ad in a recent Vogue and was immediately drawn to those fantastically drapey pants.  How'd I do?

I pulled out these pants and tweaked them just a bit.  This morning was cold and raining and I was still sore from a marathon workout yesterday, so I decided not to workout and instead, threw a quick cuff on these pants.  They turned out just as I had hoped!

The rest was thrown together pretty quickly and was primarily dictated by the stupid weather.  I know I've been complaining about the weather a lot lately, but I just wish it would get warm and stay that way.  Instead, the last few weeks have been like some crazy time travel.  One day, it's August.  The next, March.  Come on already!

I can't wait to remix these with some drapey tanks this summer.

What do you think about my slick back?  All I could think about all day is how Tyra told Krista how a "slick back works for her."  I wonder if Tyra would think it works for me?

On a completely unrelated note, I'm watching The Biggest Loser right now.  Fun fact:  I cry every single time I watch this show.  Love, love, love it!

  3. This is an amazing version of the Chloe look. The pic is so editorial but you made it look real life appropriate (maybe it's the lack of a turban!) I think Tyra would be proud of your slick back- I can't wait for my bangs to finally grow out.

P.S. I cry at The Biggest Loser too!

  4. You pulled that off really well! I bought a pair of extra big pants and cuffed them but they don't look anywhere near as good as this. They just make me look weird and bulky in the "crochular" region. What am I doing wrong?

  7. Gorgeous! Every single piece in this outfit is to DIE for. And can I just say that I am uber impressed with your picture taking capabilities? Cuz I am. Whenever I take pictures outside, I never get the lighting right or the wind messes up my hair...anyways, you look fab. That's all.

  9. Love the pants. Great recreation of your inspiration.

I'm a Biggest Loser fan too. Very cry inducing, I agree.

Oh, and also, I need your shoes. That's all.

  10. The first thing I noticed and fell in love with was your slick back :) I have a big forehead so I dare not attempt it but now I can just live through you on your slick days...

I can't wait to move to Tas, be near shops and stock up on winter pants! David has forbidden me from stealing his, but I'm going to see if I can sneak them in the suitcase anyway.

Awesome take on the Chloe Ad.

  15. Love Biggest Loser.

I just bought some really similar pants, I think in part because I've seen you rock them before. I'm excited to wear them. They are awesome.

I also cry every time I watch biggest loser! LOL I balled as they were finishing the marathon. I can't imagine the fatigue, pride and satisfaction one much feel in that moment!

  20. I have the same shoes and was just thinking about new ways to wear them. Thanks for the inspiration. I love them, but it's kind of hard to feel like I'm not too over the top at work with them on.

  23. I love your take. Perfectly executed. And my husband and I are weekly BL watchers. We make fun of the criers together but I'm secretly sitting on the other side of the couch fighting off the mist.

  24. What wonderful little jazz flats! The location of your pictures is breathtaking! I can definitely see the inspiration coming through in your post...

  25. You did a great job of following your inspiration! And pairing those shoes with those pants = awesome. :)

In regards to your hair I think it looks very nice pulled back, but I have to say that I love it when you have bangs (like the post you linked to for the old version of those pants). It frames your face so perfectly and really brings out your eyes. That being said, it can get boring just having bangs and not changing this up.
