CHILLIN' LIKE A VILLAIN

3-22-10 1

I now pronounce the next six months as the Season of Pants.

3-22-10 2

I've been having a lot of fun playing with different shapes and silhouettes.  I LOVE feeling chill, but pulled together and stylish, and I think funky pants can do just that.

It's funny, because I think I've ignored pants for a long, long time.  I've always felt like my shape didn't allow for a lot of experimentation when it came to the "legged garment."  But now I've seen the light!  Admittedly, they take far more patience to find than anything else, but once you do find the perfect pair, life is good.

I've been really lucky at the thrift store lately (namely, my big baggies from yesterday) and my luck continues.  I went to the mall yesterday for a little spring browsing and ended up trying these on at JCPenney.  It's a shape that I would normally just write off as "not for me,"  but once I had them on, there was no denying that I had to get them.  Most days, jeans are not an option for me and I get really bored with plain old trousers.  Something like this is the perfect alternative!

So, tell me ... how do you like your pants?

  1. Hey lady! I want to try those pants! Can you tell me who they are made by? I always wear dresses/skirts but mainly because I don't like the fit of most pants.

Love this look by the way!

  4. Those pants are awesome on you!! Loveeee them! :) P.s. Jade just did the post that restyled the awesome one shoulder number that you posted... and it reminded me that I wanted to ask you where you got the pants that you were wearing in that post?... I know it's obscure... lol. But I just thought about it! :)

  6. Cool pants! I've always digged the sort of laid back, slouchy look for pants, especially "boyfriend" jeans, but I never have tried them on because I've always deemed they wouldn't "work" on me. Perhaps maybe now I will... =).

  8. Kyla, I would love to get into your pants for several reasons
    a. You are tiny and if I fit in your pants I am happy.

  9. You're my fashion blog hero right now. I've only recently gotten into reading them as part of trying to revamp and define my own style, and one of the things that drives me nuts is that it seems that everyone wears skirts and dresses all the time! I'm not opposed to them, but I still love pants!

  10. I am having the exact same pant thought process. My shape is not one that lends itself kindly to the current skinny jean trend but I am working hard to find something that works. I bought a pair of trousers on the weekend, we'll see how we go.

I love the combination of rock and suit in this outfit. I'd love to see it with your tuxedo brogues.

  11. I am liking the style of those pants! $18? That's awesome! I dont regularly wear pants, I think because I am so short, but I would love to find some like yours!

  12. Great pants!! You rock pants of all kinds. My favorite of yours were those harem pants you fasioned yourself back last summer. But these are just as fab.

So I typically wear my pants slim. I have a particular pair from H&M that are a bit too slim but they are cigarette pants. I hope to fit back into them come 3 weeks from now (thanks to weight watchers).

  13. FAB.U.LOUS!
elastic ankles are near impossible to pull off no matter what body type you are, but you have basically perfected them here, BRAVO!

  14. I absolutely love that shirt. I remember it from a previous post. It gives you just enough badass.

I like my trousers wide legged and flat-fronted. I would like to get more high-waisted pants. They're difficult though. These ones on you are wonderful. I would have totally passed them up. You wear them well!

  15. I'm recently rediscovering my love of pants. I was a long-time jeans wearer, but have recently found "trousers", and I love 'em! This pair is amazing!

  19. Wow. I love THOSE pants. They are totally flattering on you and they look comfy to boot

I have a really hard time with pants because I'm short, but I've been having bomb luck at thrift stores too. They're my new gold mine for a nice trouser.

  22. Pants and I have a hate-hate relationship. I have a rather prominent backside but a very slim waist so nothing seems to fit other than trousers meant to sit on the natural waist! And finding a flattering pair for the right price is so hard!

You always seem to find the greatest pairs...but you did mention the patience factor so I assume a lot of time and effort went into it. All worth it 'cause you definitely look laid back AND put together. Plus you're always wearing flats; I admire that your level of comfort and chic are on par.

  23. These look GREAT on you! I struggle with pants because I can never seem to make an interesting outfit around them, but you have proved to me in your last few posts that it is entirely possible. As always, thanks for the inspiration =)

  24. These pants are so cool! I tend to write off pants because they usually don't flatter my shape, but maybe someday I'll have the perfect pair like these!
