(B)ROGUE BLOGGER

Remember way back when I was lusting after these Steve Madden Tuxxedo brogues.  Truth is, my shoe crush never let up, but I could never quite justify the nearly $70 price tag.
My mind is still obsessed with having a pair of brogues, and I knew if I just waited it out, I would find a more affordable pair.  So, last week, I plunked down a mere $25 for a pair of Target brogues.  The shape isn't exactly like the Steve Maddens (I am just super in love with the SM shape - I'm a little anal about things like toe boxes on shoes), but I figured for the savings, I could make them work.

Because the Target version only came in brown and black, my choices were limited, so I went with the black pair.  Then, I got my new Lucky magazine in the mail the other day.  Their shoe section had a whole page devoted to the awesomeness that are two-toned brogues.  Ugh -- I was bummin' a little, because that was what I really wanted.

Well, the universe loves me.  I had a random desire to got to Ross yesterday and even managed to talk John into accompanying me.  I was really on the hunt for a pair of brown boots, but when I got there, the boots were completely cleaned out.  As I scanned the racks of shoes, the sky opened up, the light shone down and angels started to sing.  And this is what I saw:
There were two, and only two,  pairs of the Steve Madden Tuxxedo brogues that I have been so in love with for so long!  There was a 7.5 and an 8 - the exact two sizes I wanted to try on to compare.  So, I walked out with the two-toned Steve Madden Tuxxedo brogues in my size for ... $16.99!

There was some serious happy dancing going on ... trust me, John got to witness it.

  1. Oh my god...those Ross brogues are fabulous! They are so "Cab Calloway". I bought some brogues last week when form Target too. They have a bit of a heel and they are suede and the toe and heel are patent leather. I normally would never wear anything that doesn't have a heel but they were 7 bucks at Target! I'm wearing them now!

  8. Wow! That is super lucky! I too, had been coveting the Steve Madden brogues, but in the whiskey color. And like you, I couldn't justify spending $70! The stars must have been aligned this weekend though, because on a whim I went to Macy's and they were having a blow-out shoe sale! 65% off and an extra 20% for wearing red (the sales girl decided my pink flannel counted) and I snagged the Steve Madden brogues in whiskey for a mere $4.65! Hooray for shoe bargains!

  10. Lady Luck! I am wishing for a pair myself, though I am not quite bold enough for the tuxedo version. A friend recently got a similar pair and they are adorable on her! Can't wait to see how you style them.
