THESE CORDS WERE MADE FOR ME

12-30-09 1

These cords are freakin' awesome!  I'm soooo glad that I got them.  They are the absolute most perfect substitution for my skinny jeans when denim is not allowed.  They do tend to get a little linty, though.

I missed out on the daylight today, since I was running tight on time this morning.  When we got home, I retreated to the basement for a quick photo op.  Normally, I would have skipped it, but I love the outfit, so I just HAD to share!  When John realized what I was doing, he asked if I was going for "German and industrial."  Funny guy.  Funny guy.

I truly had no idea what I was going to wear today.  Do you ever have those days when you just don't feel like wearing real clothes.  You know, where the thought of clothing touching your body just makes you cringe? These days are so much easier to deal with in the summer when everything's so flowy and free.  But in the winter, I just have to suck it up and deal.  Bleh.

Anyway, I just went for cords and went from there.  And I kinda really like it!

  2. I love those corduroy. They give the essence of velvet without actually having to maintain velvet.

  3. That jacket is awesome. I'm almost sad that it's thrifted because I want one.

  5. I find that dresing up in the fall is extremely motivating because you get to bust out all the great things the season let's you wear. Winter on the other hand is a completely different story and I'd like to live in my robe the entire season. No wonder bears hybernate, they don't have to worry a day about their appearance.

  6. Yes! These pants are the awesome! Mine are a bit linty as well, but the simple facts: they're kind of warm, and nicely stretchy, and black, and textural... WIN.

  7. Great jacket! :D
And I have days like that all the time. Sometimes after a few days of getting dolled up in winter clothes, you just get annoyed and don't want to get dressed at all!

  9. You thrifted that blazer for 8 freaking bucks? I'm impressed. I love it, though I'm bummed I can't find one for myself.

  10. Oh skinny cords! I usually hate cords but I found a pair I LOVED in Vancouver a few weeks ago and unfortunately the only ones in my size had a broken zipper! Needless to say I now know why everyone loves them! A beautiful texture and wonderfully comfortable! Love.

  13. I love the color combination! I did something similar with brown cords, sweater (same color as your jacket) and white shirt layered under the sweater.

    You look great!

  17. Excellent outfit, and wonderful eye for a background. I never would have thought standing against a cement wall could look so chic. I'm really happy to not be worrying that you are going to freeze as well! Happy New Year!

  23. I love this look!
You have inspired me so much this past year. The latest thing you've inspired me to do is order a mini tripod so I can change up my photo locations and maybe move outdoors when the weather improves.
And I can beat your party animal-ness from last night - we were home by 12.15am!

    Have a great 2010.

  24. I love the neutral color palette you've got going on here, Kyla. The jacket is amazing, and those cords are great! I just got some skinny brown cords, and I love 'em for precisely the same reason (though lint attraction does indeed occur).
