It's Monday already!
I've got a lot on my mind today, but these are the only ones I can articulate at the moment:

1. After 2 weeks of "we're going to decorate this weekend" and not actually decorating, we've decided to totally bail on the tree thing this year.  I decided that I'd rather enjoy the holiday season by doing and being instead of decorating and cleaning.  Plus, the money we save on the tree can go towards other good-hearted causes instead.

2.  On Saturday, we went to a Victorian Christmas celebration in a neighboring town.  I found out the the husband hates horses, and so I was declined a horse-drawn carriage ride. Poo! - which incidentally is the reason he dislikes horses... Instead, we ended up getting lost in an enormous antique mall for a couple of hours.  It was way more fun than the horses anyway.  And it smelled much better.

3.  We had an impromptu Thanksgiving meal yesterday with all of my aunts and uncles on my dad's side of the family.  It was last minute, but very much enjoyed, especially since I haven't seen so many of them for far too long.

4.  While I was there, my mom gave me some amazing vintage pieces that were my Nanny's.  I can't wait to share them with you!  Soon enough, my friends.  Soon enough ...

5.  It's finally warming up a bit.  The last couple of days have been a heat wave with temps in the mid-30's (F).  With the exception of yesterday morning, when it iced all over everything.  Now, it's just melty and icky.

What's on your mind today?

  1. So there is totally an article in this month's Ladies Home Journal (I know, I know, nothing to do with fashion...) that is all about alternatives to the Christmas tree, and some of them are incredible! You should so go buy a copy just to check it out! I was tempted to forego the traditional tree this year just to be able to have such cool alternatives. :)

  2. oh i'll have to check that article!
on my mind at this very very moment is how in the word do i help someone get out of a funk? but really its not up to me. they have to want to get out. and im not sure they do. i have to love them i know that. but having a cherry attitude is hard when someone is always down....

  3. Double poo on the fact that you didn't get to go on a horsey ride;) Though, I must admit that sometimes the smell of those beautiful creatures is just too much for this

  4. Just so you know... I enjoy your ramblings muchly.
And ugh to christmas decorating... we're knee deep in renos and how can I even decorate if I can't even find anything?

  5. Wow about not having a Christmas tree, but that's really thoughtful of putting it towards a better cause.

You could always buy a fake tree as well, we do that every year...well we bought one one year and we just use it every year. Saves money over the years and no cleanup. :)

Wow, it's so cold where you are. We barely have snow here.

  6. Good for you abandoning that tree! I am all for jettisoning the things that weigh you down.

  7. It sounds like a very productive weekend. I can't wait to see the goodies your mom gave you.

  8. ohhh new vintage pieces..
I am just working on getting better(today is a turn for the worse) so I can do the holiday stuff I have planned!

  9. I can't wait to see some of the pieces! I'm just sitting here thinking of all the other things I should be doing right now.

  10. LOL, this was ME last year with the tree thing. We just didn't set one up and the world didn't end. This year we snagged a mini tree from my mother-in-law and put it on a stand. It works.
Can't wait to see your vintage pieces!!

  11. I have to say - I'm so happy I stumbled my way onto your blog! After appreciating your sense of style- I also then couldn't help but keep feeling like "I've been there before..." and after seeing Old Main in the background - yep! I grew up there - and it's so nice to see little snippits and get to hear a little bit of home each day- along with some fashion!! :) I even miss the snow...sometimes - until you mention how much you don't!
