8 1/2

7-01-09 2 redo

Side note: I tried Picnik today because I was too lazy to open Photoshop. It's pretty groovy.

In the last few weeks, I have been given the Kreativ Blogger award by six wonderful lady bloggers : Adored Austin, Lilli Living, Undergrad Fab, Fashion After Forty, God Made Me Funky and Struggles of a Creative Mind. If you don't already read these blogs, please go check them out. They are not only fantastic bloggers, but a few of my most valued readers who leave the kindest, and sometimes funniest, comments. Thanks, girls! (If I forgot someone, please cyber-yell at me in the comments section - just be nice.)

The funny thing is that the award came with different instructions from different bloggers. You know, like the telephone game. Some said to list 7 things about yourself, others said 10. So, I'm going to split the difference and list 8 1/2.

8-3-09 2

1. People often ask me about Iggy Pop. No, not the Iggy Pop who comes with Stooges. MY Iggy Pop. He is a 3-year-old shih tzu who is the kindest, gentlest, funniest creature you will ever meet. He knows nothing but love and is BY FAR one of the greatest loves of my life.

2. I graduated from college with a Film and Video degree (hence the Fillini reference in the title) and a minor in Costume Design. I do not use either degree, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. (Okay, except maybe a degree in something I love to do now as opposed to then.) Anyway, if I had done anything else, I may not have met my husband.

3. I was a cheerleader in high school. It was the only sport that I really excelled at. I was even chosen to cheer for the Big 33, the best 33 football players in Ohio vs. the best 33 in PA, plus 50 cheerleaders from PA split into 2 squads. It was a great experience, but I don't even remember who won.

4. My husband and I call each other "Meatball" and have since we first starting dating. Originally, it was my nickname for him, but he wasn't creative enough to come up with one on his own, so it became unisex. I swear it's not in a sickening sweet kind of way, though, because that would just be annoying.

5. Last time I posted 7 things about myself, I was killing myself working 3 different jobs - 1 full-time job that I hated, 1 part-time job that I loved, and then my invitation design business that is my pride and joy. I was working around the clock and getting pretty miserable. Well, 2 1/2 weeks ago I quit the full-time job that I couldn't stand and now I can honestly say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE what I do for a living. Or an almost living. It's getting there though!

6. Six years out of college, I'm finally narrowing in on what I want to be when I grow up, but I still can't put it into words. I often feel like Denise in The Cosby Show with a new career goal every week. I'm getting better.

7. My husband and I only have one car. I can't imagine paying for 2. That may sounds trite if you live in the city, but we're in a relatively small town where you can walk most places, but it may take you forever. If we have to be in 2 places at once, we deal.

8. I'm addicted to cop shows. Period.

8 1/2. I totally love my outfit today...

  1. Very cool!I wish I had though of film as an option, I think I would have really enjoyed doing that. I was supposed to go to design school for Costume design, but, my parents had other plans for me. (long story)

  4. My husband and I shared a 13 year old car for almost 2 years. The only problems we encountered were when our car broke down and we had to get it fixed & a few social outings. It really wasn't a big deal overall, and it's better than fighting/worrying over money, right?!

  8. As a non-car owner in a city, I think one is plenty. And I have ALWAYS loved that your dog is named Iggy Pop.

  9. I just love giving people homework ;)

I don't know how you do it with one car. I have to go 7 miles to the nearest grocery store.

  10. I love reading people's answers to these!

Guess what! Here are the things we have in common:
    1. we both have dogs named after musicians (mine's Jimi Hendrix)
    2. I have a degree in film & video that I'm not currently using!
    3. I was a cheerleader and it's the only sport I'm good at!
    4. My husband and I both call each other a food name (Honeybun). It's not NEARLY as cool as MEATBALL!!!
& 8.5. I totally love your outfit today, too!
