I <3 NY

Disclaimer: This photo was not taken with my swanky new camera and therefore, seriously lacks in swankiness. It needed a LOT of help in Photoshop.

NYC balcony

We had an awesome AWESOME time in NYC and Long Island this past weekend. Lots of traffic, but Saturday and Sunday's weather was perfect!

We went to NYC for the MoCCA Art Festival (Museum of Cartoon and Comic Art) at the Armory on Park and 26th in Manhattan. We arrived Friday evening and stayed at Hotel Giraffe, which was beautiful! This picture was taken on the balcony of our room, which overlooked the armory across the street. Such a great place.

Friday night, I had to get my H&M fix, since we didn't have a lot of time to do any other shopping. My husband was a champ and walked about a mile in the rain with me and then patiently waited while I sifted through the racks and tried on my selections. I picked up a couple of awesome pieces and am the proud owner of the CUTEST little black romper :) It's sooooo Roller Boogie, I love it! I even tried to convince my husband that I desperately need a pair of old school roller skates now. He wasn't buying it.

Anyway, this is what I wore to the MoCCA show on Saturday. I love this outfit! It's the $13 orange maxi dress from Ross that I've worn a million times in the last couple of months with a vintage leather vest that I picked up in Asheville, NC ($13) and a super cool, extra fringey scarf from my quick jaunt to H&M Friday night ($10). It's the best combination of flowy bohemian and edgy bad-ass. Perfect for the city!

In case you are wondering why we went to the MoCCA show, my husband manages a really cool local comic book store that sells a ton of independent comics and graphic novels. The MoCCA show was all indie artists and publishers. Despite having to wait in line in the sun for over an hour and half because they opened late and then the lack of AC in building, it was still a really cool experience. So much talent from all over the world!

After the show, we drove to Long Island to stay with some friends for the night. All in all, a GREAT week, but now I'm completely exhausted! Happy Monday, kids!

I like how you really changed the look of this orange dress- the focus is definitely up by your face; an impressive feat given the strong color and length of the dress!
