As we were getting in the car this morning, John was making lovely spousal morning chat, asking when I got my new dress and complimenting today's look. He's good like that. Then, he noticed my bracelets and turned into a 10-year-old boy on Christmas morning.
He abruptly stopped in mid-sentence and exclaimed, "Woah, coooool! Awesome bracelets! Where'd you get those?! You look like a gladiator!" I'm pretty sure they made his day. I'm also pretty sure that if they ever go missing, I'll likely find them wrapped snugly around his wrists as he yells things like "Max-i-mus! Max-i-mus!" and "I am Spartacus!"
Dress: thrifted, $2.50 or $5 - Belt: gift - Cuffs: Charlotte Russe, 2/$8 - Shoes: Kenneth Cole Reaction, $40
I know have a strong desire to watch "Gladiator". Your hubby's comment always crack me up.
ReplyDeleteLove the simpleness of this look wit the little twists.
Well, they are def some awesome bracelets. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou always look beautiful and mysterious in black! Lovely dress.
Bless your husband, he says the sweetest things! I think their should be a blog for all the things he says...
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm very jealous of your dress...it's perfect in every way!
You should have paired them with gladiator sandals! I love, love, love your hair like that!
ReplyDeleteThose are some snazzy bracelets. I really love your hair like that too. If my hair was long enough, I'd try that look.
ReplyDeleteYou can't blame the boy, they are some sweet ass bracelets.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress too. Is it linen? It looks lovely and light. Very stylish.
well aren't you looking very posh today! great outfit, love the bangles
ReplyDeletei was recently gifted a very similar vintage dress, but in white linen... i was thinking it looked a little too "nurses uniform" but i am loving how you did it up with the wide obi belt... totally makes it more edgy. i'm officially on the lookout for a hugely wide brown belt to recreate this silhouette. excellent work, per usual!
ReplyDeleteWait. You're married?? No way, omg, I thought you were like 18 or something.
ReplyDeleteI love this look. That leather belt adds such a fierce look to everything.
Ps. Those bracelets are amazing. So so cool.
Haha those braclets are awesome, but the dress is my favourite!
ReplyDeleteI love a good black shirtdress- they go with everything and can be worn anywhere as far as I'm concerned. You look great!
ReplyDeleteAre you doing Wonder Woman in the second to last pic? I love posing like her (hands on hips- defiant stance)! Wonder Woman wishes her bracelets were as awesome as yours.
Those are indeed some cool bracelets. Love the dress, too!
ReplyDeleteThey are SUPER awesome cuffs! I've been meaning to do matching cuffs since I saw the look on Demi Moore last summer ... such a powerful, Wonder Woman-y look.
ReplyDeleteLOVE Maximus and I LOVE your cuffs! :)
ReplyDeleteSee...this is why I love style blogs...I get to live vacariously. I always want to do simple and chic like you do SO well and then I always gravitate to the the most colorful, craziest thing I can find...sigh...maybe one day. I LOVE your hair btw.
ReplyDeleteI was totally thinking ancient Rome...I really love the bracelet!
