They were spraying our condos for nasty spring insects today, so I couldn't safely take photos in my normal locales. Instead, I had to go out by the main road. Due to random passerby, I am not looking at the camera in many of the shots. I guess I thought if I ignored it, that no one would notice what I was doing. As though to say, "No, that's not my camera. It was here when I got here."
Well played, I know.
I made this dress about 3 years and 35 pounds ago. I haven't worn it for quite some time, since it's a bit on the big side. Nothing a cardigan and belt can't remedy, though! I definitely need to get around to taking in the seams, so I can wear it this summer. I had forgotten how much I love it!
Check out my left wrist! I made it a mini mission last month to find an armful of clear bangles. Not as easy as one may think! I had no luck for a while and then I found 3 within a week! One at a local vintage shop where I had credit and a set of three at Plato's Closet (which ironically, still had the price tag on them from the vintage shop where I got the first one). Anyway, I'd still like to find more, but I'm well on my way!
Okay, I have to go to the dreaded supermarket now. Wish me luck...
Dress: self-made - Cardigan: H&M, $30 - Belt: Target?, old - Shoes: Ross, $9 - Bangles: assorted vintage
"No that is not my camera" HAHAHA
ReplyDeleteYou never fail to make me smile.
I'm so glad that your blog was one of the first I found and fell in love with and it still makes me smile :)
Love your black, white and grey combo.
Good luck at the supermarket! Hehe
Love the dress! It looks fabulous on you!

clothed much, a modest fashion blog
Hahaha! I love the idea of you nonchalantly pretending the camera is just there!
ReplyDeleteThat self-made dress is fantastic!
sooooo....when are you making me one of these dresses :)
ReplyDeleteLove the dress/cardigan/belt combo!
ReplyDeleteSneaky lady...pretending the camera isn't yours.
ReplyDeleteI love the striped maxi... reminds me to bust out mine again.
I adore this Kyla! What a great way to work in a low dress for the spring! I'm gonna pull some out of the closet tonight and see what I can do with them.
ReplyDeleteAlso, have you ever done a post on your weight loss? I would be interested in knowing what you did, your beginning size and ending size...how long have you kept it off...basically, I want to know your business! LOL
I've recently made changes to my eating and excercise routine (cough, couch...what routine) and love to be inspired by people I know... (you are my friend in my head:)
I love this - slouchy elegant. Very nice! :-)
ReplyDeleteGood luck at the grocery store. At least you'll look super stylish while you battle those carts.
ReplyDeleteHaha I do the same thing! (pretend the camera isn't mine, or that I'm taking pictures of scenery or something) haha
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! You so cute in this dress. I will I could make something like that:)
ReplyDeleteI love a striped maxi dress!wore a similar oufit myself this week...
ReplyDeleteVery classy to ignore the camera!
Do you know that you're featured on College Fashion today? It was really cool to open the page and see you there. Congratulations! A lot of girls like me read that blog everyday.
ReplyDeleteI always feel like long dresses and skirts are hard for most people to pull off, but you do it wonderfully! You make them look so chic!
ReplyDeleteLove this. Especially clear bangles. I don't think I've ever seen one anywhere and already I love them.
ReplyDeleteHaha. I'm going to try that camera game. I usually play "Oh don't mind me, I'm just taking pictures of the landscape. I only stepped in front of the camera to test it out. And then posed..."
Ooo love this! so chic :)
ReplyDeleteYou made your dress? Fabulous!
ReplyDeletemaxi dress!, you look stunning on it
ReplyDeletexxx
You look so glam in this dress! And yes it will be so perfect for summer.
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing when taking pics, although you have your dog to make it look like your doing something! :) Love this dress and can't wait to see it this summer!
ReplyDeleteAwesome dress! I especially love your maxi dress posts, you always inspire me to experiment with different looks and layers.
ReplyDeleteI ADORE that dress, lady! Glad you are still able to make it work.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress! So impressive that you made it yourself. Also, you really can't tell it's too big at all, so kudos on the belt/cardigan solution.

This is INSANELY chic. You're killin me!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I totally do the whole don't-look-at-the-camera thing when I'm in public, which is totally ridiculous. I have yet to have anyone ask me what I'm doing, so I'm assuming they all just know that I'm a mad stylish model....or something like that. :)
Ahh, more stripes! I think every single fashion blog I follow has feature a stripey outfit once this week, and now I have serious stripe enjoy. I must get my hands on a stripe shirt... you look fab, I must recreate. :)
ReplyDeletechic simplicity, to the inspiration file :-)
ReplyDeleteYou look chic AND comfortable. Fabulous outfit (and I hear you on the magical powers of a belt!).
ReplyDeleteIf you don't mind, I am going to shamelessly copy this look :) I have very similar pieces and had never really thought of pairing them this way. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOD am I in love with this dress. I so want a striped maxi. I have a vertical (and probably way too colorful one) in the works that I started and gave up on last year. You've inspired me to finish it off...
