I truly wish every day was like Monday. I've been completely enthralled with projects that I really care about and love doing all day today. And there's even more to be done. Oh, if only there were a few more hours in the day.
This is a really quick business casual outfit that I threw together for a couple hours of work yesterday (yes, work on Sunday). It's really just a different way of wearing a couple of basics I already have. Though, if I have to credit something, the bracelet was the starting point.
Of all things, I picked up a bunch of arm bangles on my shopping trip this weekend. I may have a problem. Are there support groups for things like this?
I didn't want to worry about "bunchy butt" when I tucked in this shirt, so I criss-crossed it to make it look smooth. I also may have tucked it into a pair of slimming underoos ... but that may be a little TMI.
Last night, I was perusing my regular blogs and noticed that Second Skin did the same thing with a larger button-down. Great minds think alike!
My coworker gave me the nicest compliment on my outfit, and I immediately launched into a huge diatribe, outlining all of its flaws and my insecurities. Then, I caught myself mid-rant, stopped and politely thanked her. She thought it was pretty funny and said that she never would've noticed any of the flaws I couldn't let go. Point taken.
And now, because I have no shame, I'm going to go don this outfit one more time for an evening meeting. Later, gators!

Lady, those pants are fantastic! Flattering, funky, and fun.
ReplyDeleteI am loving the bangle!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great simple outfit! I like how the cuff adds a more personal touch to it. You have such a tiny waist and those pants totally show it off.
ReplyDeleteThose high-waisted pants are fantastic on you and I love that bangle!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who does the wrap 'n tuck. TMI or no, it just makes everything look neater and more, er...streamlined.
ReplyDeleteAnd your bracelet goes perfectly with the earrings I'm wearing today! Wanna trade? :)

I love business casual on you! I've been wanting to tuck a shirt in like that since I saw you do it a few weeks ago. Such a great style!

Now this is how you do business casual! It so easy and chic...that bracelet is perfect!
ReplyDeleteGet the style, women at work!
ReplyDeletesimple and fabulous.
ReplyDeleteOooooooo, sweetie, you have NOTHING to feel insecure about. You look professional and oh so chic. But I do the SAME thing for some reason...usually I justify how inexpensive a piece of clothing is rather than talk about how it fits, but it's the same concept. Not sure why, but it's a bad habbit we women must break.
ReplyDeleteLove the high-waisted pants! Very vintage-chic.

i love the way you've styled the shirt--the assymetrical look adds a little bit of excitement to what could be a staid look.
ReplyDeleteand those pants: amazing.
Hi, can I have those pants?? K. thanks. :) You look awesome in this business casual outfit! I love this look! No reason for insecurities because you totally rocked this
ReplyDeleteI love your Monday ramblings. I've been listening to Lady GaGa, too, and I'm getting it. I don't know why it is hard to say 'thank you'. It got easier for me after it was explained that to say anything but 'thank you' is disregarding the other person's opinion. I don't want to be rude. hahaha........but I usually add something like: The best thing is I got it at Sal Val and it was super cheap. I'm making the effort to say T.Y. and then shut the hell up.
ReplyDeletePS. The word butt has 2 Ts just like your butt has 2 cheeks. Oh, and ass has 2 Ss. :)
PPS. Love the look and the color combos!
I really love this- everything's so clean and crisp, even down to the color story!
ReplyDeleteUnderoos huh.... I've never heard that word before but it's good.
ReplyDeleteYour bracelet is very good too...
I love this outfit. High rise pants are amazing. I really need to invest some.
ReplyDeleteThe bangle is perfect, it really makes the outfit pop.
hot stuff!! love the high waist pants!!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Kind of menswear-inspired but with a gorgeous feminine silhouette. And I'm so going to try the shirt-tucking technique!
ReplyDeleteI love how you styled the shirt. This is so Katharine Hepburn awesome.

YES! As someone with an entire bangle drawer, I love the idea of building an outfit around a bracelet. And I love what you've come up with. Yay for bracelets!

oooh the criss-cross tuck-in action was such a great idea! and those pants are spectacular.
ReplyDeleteThose pants fit you like a dream! So so chic.
ReplyDeletethese pants are rad! I have been looking high and low for a great fitting pair of high waisted jeans/pants and these are just that! Also, the tucking in the shirt to the slimming panties, a girls best trick of the trade! Not TMI at all-speaking my language!
