I'LL TAKE ANOTHER

I felt awesome in today's outfit.
Just remixing more of the same, making it anything but...

Loving the sexiness of a racer back. Just the other day, I was lamenting that I need a new racer back bra, but instead I bought one of those bra converter clips. It's. Awesome. It worked for the bra and the cami. Totally worth the $10 and waaaay cheaper than a new bra.

DREAMSICLE

I got a pretty new dress!

Once again, a Sears purchase. I always feel so Brady Bunch getting by Sunday best at Sears, but what can I say? I'm not picky, I couldn't give two hoots about labels and quite frankly, it's what's convenient and affordable.

Anyway, I spotted this dress way back in April and really, really loved it. It was regularly $50, but most of the time, it was on sale for $30. Since one can never accept a first offer, I took my chances and waited ... and waited ... and waited ... until ...

This past weekend, I was raiding the clearance rack at the good ole' Roebuck and Co. and there it was in all it's sherbet-hued, ruffly glory ... for $15. Score!

It just may be...

*ahem*

Do NOT try to steal my spotlight!

... sorry about that ...

It just may be the PERFECT summer dress!

The only downfall with all the neck-rufflage, which I discovered on my 2.5 miles walk along a busy road from job #1 to job #2, is that one stiff gust of wind from behind, and I look like this ...

ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM

And the maxi addiction continues...

7-7-09 3

Along with my not-so-often mentioned soft spot for elephants, which unfortunately, you can't quite see in this picture. But the largest charm on this necklace (Charlotte Russe, $8) is a pretty little elephant that I've recently added to my ever-growing collection.

Why elephants, though?

Well, they keep their bestest friends forever, they never forget, they show emotions, and they're a token of good luck. But, for me, it's much more than that.

My husband gave me a stuffed elephant when we were dating, because I had a bad cold and the elephant's name was Blowsy Nosy. Then, he got Blowsy Nosy a mate for my birthday. Then, it just became one of those little momentos he would give me to commemorate special milestones and events.

Then, on Christmas Day 2004, he gave me a HUGE stuffed elephant, only this one was very special. It was a hand puppet. And inside the puppet was a small box. And inside the small box was a very, very special gift...

BURIED TREASURES

7-6-09 1

After months and months, I FINALLY got my sewing machine out this weekend and dove into the pile of unfinished projects. I altered a shirt, finished a previous sewing project and hemmed this lovely little skirt. I bought this waaaaay back in February for $13 off a clearance rack at Sears. It fits like a glove with its high waist and pockets :) - and I completely forgot that I had it. I couldn't possibly wear it until it was hemmed, so I took all of 5 months and 15 minutes to make it a great skirt for the rest of the summer.

This outfit was the last in a looong string of options. I really wanted to wear a really bright tank (specifically tomato red) with this, but don't have one. Then, I was going to wear my teal racer back tank, but decided that I need a new racer back bra. Then, since my Monday meeting is in a rather chilly room, I decided I needed sleeves. And since I don't have any cropped cardigans at the moment, had to fall back on the trusty tied oxford, but gray this time (SJP, $10)
Paired it with a big patent belt (Ross, $7.50) and snakeskin sandals (Ross, $9). Pretty happy with the results, but looking forward to the possibilities.

And now for my fiercest catwalk strut:

EVERYTHING THAT'S OLD IS NEW AGAIN

If you've been reading my blog for a while now and you've got great attention to detail, then you may recognize this dress. I'll give you a dollar if you do.

7-3-09 1

It's such a sleek shape (my husband says it "fits like a glove") and paired with studded snake skin sandals (Ross, $9) and a roughed up safari jacket (thrifted, $2) it takes on an edgy bohemian vibe. Totally diggin' it.

7-30-09 2

The dress is actually a one-shouldered number, which gives it a really cool looking neckline under the jacket. The pink strap is actually my bra (I cheated and wore a regular bra since I knew the jacket wasn't coming off).

I'm soooo glad it's Friday. Ready for some WNTW and a relaxing holiday weekend. I'm running in the Firecracker 4K in the morning and doing a lotta grillin' in the afternoon.

Yay for the sunshine that's (FINALLY) coming our way!

Did you figure it out? It's my junior prom dress!

TAKING IT DOWN A NOTCH

Hey, remember that dress I bought for my cousin's wedding a couple weeks ago? What a great summer staple it's becoming! How cute and July-y is this?

7-01-09 1

And twirly...

7-01-09 3

And fun!

Did someone say treat?

7-01-09 iggy

Today turned out to be a beautiful day, so
Iggy Pop and I got in some quality play time.

7-01-09 4

I felt so cute and retro today. It's a little on the July 4th side of things since all of my WW meetings this week are focusing on cookouts. Fitting, don't you think?

GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT

I didn't update my weekly music selection, yet,
because I was waiting for a new album yesterday.

So, here it is - this week, I'm listening to
Wilco The Album and loving it! Go check it out!
