One thing in particular (there are many) I love about blogging and reading blogs is the heightened confidence I have to try new things. I've worn things in the last couple of months that I never in a million years thought I would ever wear. And love no less! These pants are a perfect case in point.
I found these at Goodwill a couple of weeks ago and just couldn't pass them up. I really love the feeling of stepping outside my comfort zone. Nine times out of ten, it's totally worth it. This is one of those times.
I realize this look is not for everyone, but I think that's why I like it so much. It feels like me and my style and I know that no one else in town will be wearing a pair of these bad boys.
I will admit, they are quite challenging to style. So, I just kept with what I do best: t-shirt, blazer and flats.
What's the craziest style risk you've taken?
Pants: Thrifted, $4? - T-shirt: Target, $15 - Blazer: JCP, $25 - Sandals: Target, $16 - Belt: mom's
wow! I have never seen hammer pants in current trend rocked so hard! for reals. um, and your hair looks awesome.
ReplyDeletemy craziest style risk (in recent times) would probably be wearing 3 different plaids at once. in undergrad (the early 2000s), i used to like wearing this tonal vine print silk skirt with bleach/blasted denim underneath. :P
I am completely freaked out by how DYNAMITE those pants are on you! The way you styled them is great, they're all statement all on their own, so simple with the rest of the outfit is best.
ReplyDeleteAlso, that last picture in the post made me snort.
seriously you are the queen of taking things that wouldn't normally look right and totally rocking them. These pants look really good on you.
ReplyDeleteLove them!
I really love your blog! You stepping out of your comfort zone inspires me to try new styles that no one in my small town wears! And I love it :) You always look so lovely no matter what- because you're so confident! Thanks for inspiring!
ReplyDeleteOOh, I would kill to borrow your pants for a day. :) Btw, I loved your pants and linen blazer so much that I looked for weeks at thrift stores and finally found some...and they are perfect. You are way to inspirational, I covet your outfits.
ReplyDeleteYou rock, end of story! I love your style bravery!!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Love it! Especially that last shot. I was so tempted to buy a pair of these in purple when my friends got some from a hippie-like shop 2 years ago. I just wore theirs until we had worn them out. Haha
ReplyDeleteI don't really have an crazy style risks. I have a lot of things I wanna try but can't because I'm nowhere near shops to try things on :( Haha
Story of my life. You look awesome. Love your backyard?
Those are some crazy pants!

Only you could pull these off :)
ReplyDeleteYou are able to pull off the coolest things! You are rockin' these pants, lady!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about blogging making items seem totally cool and normal. I feel like I've been exposed to so many different styles in the last year, that some trends (harem pants, rompers, overalls) look so darn wearable and awesome.
And this is why I like you...
ReplyDeleteHoly shit, Kyla, these are AMAZING! And I SO love your big sexy curly hair. Loving everything here!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it crazy that having people watching us (via the blog) makes us brave? I'm exactly the same. I even thought it with today's outfit which I'll post tonight.
ReplyDeleteI think these pants are great and I can imagine them done well with a tunic/dress.
You make those look sooo GOOD! And my biggest fashion risk as of late was wearing 2 different plaids- in tights and in a tunic. Daring, I know :)
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing!! I seriously commend your bravery for rocking these! While personally, I don't think I would try such loose harem pants because I normally don't find them very flattering, I totally love how you balanced out the loose pants with the structured blazer! You're pretty much a genius, just so you know. :)
ReplyDeleteCompletely and totally awesome! You look AMAZING! This look is so fun. :)
ReplyDelete~Candice
I love that about blogging too! It has definitely made me step out of my comfort zone.
ReplyDeletePairing the pants with the fitted blazer is perfect, and those sandals look like they were made for those pants!
I love that you are brave enough to try those pants, and you pull them off so well!
ReplyDeleteProbably mixing patterns is the bravest thing I've ever tried. I feel that since I've begun blogging though I'd be more open to trying crazier stuff.
When I first looked at this I sorta went "ummm... what?" and then as I looked more at the pictures I surprised myself with how much I think these work on you. I agree, this style isn't for everyone, but it's cool that you took a risk.
ReplyDeleteYou rock this! As soon as the page loaded I was like, OH MY GOD - amazingggggggg! Seriously. I can't get over it. And on top of it all (uh, literally I guess) your hair looks incredible. You make me wanna go out and get some of these pants.
ReplyDeleteThose pants are amazing! What kind of material are they made out of? From the pictures they look kind of linen-y...?
ReplyDeleteonly you, kyla, could make those pants look amazingly cool.
ReplyDeleteplease let me borrow an ounce of your supreme confidence!
Haha! Those pants are very hard to pull off, but they look awesome on you. Love them with the blazer. The whole thing just works. Nice.
ReplyDeleteI think you are the only person that can pull those pants off and I love how they make a statement of your personal style! I love everything else about the outfit and your hair looks fabulous - love the curls!
ReplyDeleteYou look great! i am not, and definitely not a high risk taker, i care too much (i guess) about how crazy my husband is going to think that i am lol.
ReplyDeleteThe style totally suits you, and what also suits you is taking high risks, because you are confident on how you look and feel good in what you wear, you can tell by the look in your face, you always look happy and give that sense of "there is always something fresh in the air" when people look at you. I think i would be too afraid to step out of my own box and wear something like this. It looks SO good on you! it really does. I love your sandals too, the color, just lovely!
You've got guts, my friend! And you wear it well. :) PS: I'm loving your hair here!
ReplyDeleteWow.... I would have never picked up those pants... but you TOTALLY pulled it off!! :) You look awesome!
ReplyDeleteI.am.obsessed. These pants are a dream! I once owned their twin, but in silk and for way too much money, so I returned them. Seeing this, I'm very sad and envious. You look totally rad, and the blazer is such a great touch. Totally classes it up.
ReplyDeleteI love these pants, great style! looks so good on you!
ReplyDeleteby the way I love your hair like that!
They are a definitely more than a bit crazy but you got em for $4 so why not right?
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! The pants are a great colour and they work really well with the sandals....yay for trying new things!
ReplyDeleteomg I love those pants! Looking awesome as ever!
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for a pair! Color me jealous girl. Those are amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh.my.god. Those pants are completely amazing and I love that you are totally owning them! favorite look so far.
