You guys, I'm completely head over heels for my outfit today. Does that make me vain?
Not only was everything incredibly cheap, but it's got a little personal touch. I thrifted this skirt a couple of months ago and finally got around to altering it. I lopped off about 8" and tucked the sides to create a tulip-y shape. I gotta admit ... I done good!
When I first brought this baby home, John thought it was hideous. In his defense, it did have a strong resemblance to a shower curtain. But, he also doesn't share my vision and failed to see this lovely's potential. And you know what? He LOVED my outfit today. And not in the obligatory-husband-way, either.
And are you checking out the awesomeness that is my new Target jacket?! I very well may just sleep in it tonight. AND the best part - it was 42*F today, so it was all I needed to keep me warm!
And I couldn't resist sporting the specs again today. I've always been a fan of nerdy frames (anyone else remember buying them at Claire's circa 1990?), but I flipped for them after reading The Sartorialist. One of the few blurbs in the book is dedicated to the awesomeness that is geek chic.
What a gorgeous skirt! I see you have some snow on the ground, too :)
ReplyDeleteHoly cow, I LOVE the stripes and flowers! LOVE!! You did a fabulous job with it!
ReplyDeleteWay cute! You also have your finger on the fashion pulse, since images from the new Forever 21 / Faith 21 catalog was just released on The Skinny, and a major theme is florals, stripes and tights. So you!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I am SO thankful for the warmer weather. Unbelievably so.
this is a really great outfit! perfect combo of patterns. I have yet to perfect that. and the glasses go well!
ReplyDeleteLove this look! That jacket is AWESOME!!! I'm soooo jealous! :P

If i ever move to the States, the only reason will be so I can shop at Target. What a deal on that amazing jacket!
ReplyDeletecute cute skirt! wish i could work the needle as well as you obviously can
ReplyDeleteI so hope that you are working up some kind of tutorial for how you altered that skirt! The stripes and florals seemed strange in February's Glamour, but they make so much sense here.
ReplyDeleteAh! I have this jacket in gray!! (it was $15 when I bought it...not $7.50). And I love it too!
ReplyDeleteSadly since it's been so whacking cold here I haven't been able to wear it very much -- but I love what you've paired it with!
did you see this post too?

omg your skirt really take my breathe away
ReplyDeleteAs soon as the page opened up, I thought 'Hot Dang! I love this outfit!' So, no, not vain, just truthful.
ReplyDeleteYou did good on alterations!
Am I vain if I love your outfit too??? It is super cute and awesome! I love the stripes and floral combo, the way you bubbled the skirt, and the jacket tops it all off perfectly. The specs also look good on you. I wear specs but I never feel geek chic in them. I just feel nerdy/old. Oh well. Maybe after reading the Sartorialist I will change my opinion.
ReplyDeleteNot everyone can see a piece for it's potential. I love what you did with this!
ReplyDeletelove stripes and florals!
ReplyDeleteThe skirt and jacket are both to die for!
ReplyDeletemust. hit. target. now. LOVE the moto jacket with the frouncy floral skirt. this is basically a combo i've been dreaming of for myself for months. and i thought i'd gotten all my shopping out of my system over christmas. yeah right.

Well done on the skirt! I never would have guessed that it used to resemble a frumpy old shower curtain!
