From a distance, I think this photo looks like a beach. (Go ahead ... take a few steps back. You'll see what I mean.) But, alas, it is not. It is, instead, a snowy field. Oh, joy.
I am pretty stoked to see the blue skies, though. Even if they do come with sub-freezing temps. There was even a lovely breeze today. Behold:
Oh, winter. Such fun.
I'm actually rather fond of today's ensemble. Grandpa sweater. Leather skirt. Tall boots. What's not to like? I didn't really have any preconceived notions about how these pieces were going to go together, but as I kept layering, it took on a mind of its own and morphed into this.
Skirt: weardobe clothing swap ... thanks, Krystal! - Sweater: Target, $25 - Oxford: Bitten by SJP, $10 - Tee: Target, $6
Boots: Target: $35 - Necklace: Target, $7ish
I love the skirt. It matches so well with the rest of the document. So cute.

I just love that last pic :) You are just too cute. I am really loving the short skirt with the grandpa sweater. It's such a fun contrast and a little edgy. Those boots and that NECKLACE look amazing, too. Is it a feather?
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit. I had a question though. How do you keep a smile on your face when it's so flippin cold outside? My teeth would be chattering too much to take a photo like that. And yeah, it looks like a beach.
ReplyDeleteCute indeed! I like that the skirt is a bit more of an A-line. A nice change from all the leather pencil skirts I have been seeing in the blogosphere lately!
ReplyDeleteYou are so brave! I don't think I could ever muster up the courage to rock a mini in the freezing temps... you look fabulous! (Plus I love love love that sweater :))
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful view, you look great!

Leather skirts are always a winner. (Except, you know, on the girls on the street corners.)
ReplyDeleteI love this look! That skirt is so cool!

Great look - I love it!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Who would have thought a grandpa sweater and leather skirt would work so well together? I can't believe you're still taking your pics outside in those temps!!
ReplyDeleteI love how this outfit worked out too. Very layery (?) chic! Too bad it's not a beach in the background, I could use one of them right now...
ReplyDeleteI love the grandpa sweater! Love it!

Love it! :) And from far away, it definitely looked kinda like a beach! Hahaha... awesome!
ReplyDeletei love how this turned out, and i, too, have days where outfits put themselves together one layer at a time.
ReplyDeleteLong time reader, first time commenter: I have been meaning to ask you for awhile now... are there are tricks to hemming skirts that you can share? My husband bought me a sewing machine and I've sort of taught myself to use it. I can make aprons and curtains and some things quite efficiently... but altering my clothes scares me. Any tricks? If you have any advice for the blind stitch, send it this way. I'm more of a visual learner, and the instructions in my sewing machine manual are not particularly helpful. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAlso... LOVE your blog! You have inspired many creative outfits in my world!
You are so brave to still take pictures outside. My nose would be all red and runny if I did it. Love the leather skirt!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I just LOVE when an outfit just comes together. Sometimes I drive myself crazy agonizing over different ideas the night before an outfit, only to come up with something entirely different in the morning (like today)!
ReplyDeleteI love this whole outfit, Kyla :) You look fantastic... now get that coat back on!
So pretty - both the scenery and the outfit. For a split second, I did think it was the beach.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that skirt!
ReplyDeleteThis sweater is killing me! So So SOOO Great!
