CHANGING THE LANGUAGE

11-8-09 1

We had the most perfect weather today!  It got all the way up to 70 degrees!  I wish we could have days like this year round.

I decided to change something about my language today.  If you read this blog regularly, you know that I work 7 days a week.  Mostly, I don't mind it at all, since I love the flexibility, but sometimes I get a little grumpy working both Saturday and Sunday, and today I had a lot to do!

Anyway, as I was getting ready for work this morning, I decided it was time to change the language.  Instead of thinking "Ugh, I have to work today," I'm thinking "I have to inspire and create today."  That I can handle that.

I pulled together yet another outfit with my new boots.  Everything, with the exception of the boots obviously, is from last season.  I think I'm having more fun reworking the same pieces than shopping right now.  I don't have a lot of money for shopping, anyway,  but I LOVE the creative thought thatcomes from reworking the same closet.  It's really freeing, I think.  See, changing language :)

  13. Love this: "I don't have a lot of money for shopping, anyway, but I LOVE the creative thought thatcomes from reworking the same closet."

I'm feeling the same way! I haven't done any "mall" shopping in a very long time, because of the unwanted expense. I did hit a thrift store on Friday, and came away with many more items than I could have anyplace else for $50! I am really enjoying remixing my wardrobe. There are things in that closet that simply don't get worn enough. It's fun to come up with new ideas for those items.

  14. Ohmygosh, Kyla, What a perfect moto! I hope you don't mind, but I am going to adopt that moto myself. Thank you for the reminder that we should use each day to the best of our ability and that with just a little reworking we can totally do that. :)

Ahh and totally loving this outfit (and the weather)!

  17. kylaaaa... you look so cute! I love the gray on gray thing you've got going on, and those boots are just so awesome on you! fabulous.

and way to go in changing your language. I am trying to do that around the evening class I'm taking as a prereq for nursing school. all semester I've been "ugh"ing every tuesday and thursday, but then last week I told myself "you GET to go to this class to learn about stuff that will help you be a better nurse!" this totally transformed my experience leading up to the class, and subsequently my feelings while in class!

    yay for positive thinking!

(but hey... let's not forget we all gotta "ugh" once it awhile)
